What do we expect in iPad 2?
As per the latest news from Reuters, the much awaited iPad 2 will be officially launched on March 2, 2011. Everyone is anxious to know about great features iPad 2 will have. It is reported that this second-generation Apple tablet will be sporting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, SD card slot, USB port and dual cameras. Though it is not yet confirmed by Apple, the market analyst says that iPad 2 may not have a HD resolution display, but it will be the first tablet device with 512 MB of RAM and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. iPad2 will be lighter and thinner and there is a chance that new iPad will have a grill added to its back. Apple iPad 2 will have SD card slot and USB port. Apple iPad was introduced with A4 chip so this year they likely introduce the next version called A5, which further means iPad 2 will be much faster.
Display of iPad 2 is expected to be of better resolution and may be the screen will be brighter. There has been a hot discussion about retina display on iPad2. But according to various discussions on this matter, 90 % of the views are confident that there will be no retina display for iPad 2. The current display of iPad is 1024?×?768, so if we expect it to be double resolution then it would have a 2048?×?1536 display. The typical distance of viewing iPad is more if compared with iPhone. The display of iPhone 4 is nearly 330 pixels per inch. Normally people keep their iPad on lap or desk, so the normal viewing of iPad is further away from your eyes compared to iPhone. Scientific definition for retina distance and the said retina resolution for ipPad2 are not matching, that is why it is expected that iPad 2 may not have retina resolution.
It is also expected that iPad2 will have less reflective screen. It is very difficult reading with iPad on beach; also it overheats and stops working. Kindle does not have this problem, so if Apple wish to present iPad 2 as a e-reader then they have to satisfy the requirements of e-readers. There are 60% positive votes for Apple to work on a glare resistant screen for their new iPad 2.
iPad 2 will have front and rear cameras which is going to help business users of iPad. This dual camera feature will also help to those who want to take a quick snap while they are in a pinch. Front facing camera would be helpful for existing ‘augmented reality apps’.
The current iPad 2 production is expected to be in a small quantity, but in later phases the production will grow. The number of shipped units may exceed the iPad’s first generation. Apple will maintain its partnership with Foxconn since they are the main OEM supplier for parts. Asus subsidiary Pegatron will also play an essential role in manufacturing of iPad 2.
